Stuart Jobling and Barry Danby
We are extremely happy to present this show by two of the great characters of the Waiheke art scene, Stuart Jobling and Barry Danby. With a long career as a full-time artist Stuart is now accompanied on his artistic path by his partner Barry who has recently rediscovered his love of pottery and is also working in a sculptural vein influenced by Stuart’s mixed-media approach to painting. The exhibition will be held at Gallery Anomalous, Surfdale, Waiheke Island.

Live Raku
The Winter exhibition was opened with a stunning display of live pottery creation called a Raku, a type of low-firing process inspired by traditional Japanese raku firing. Western-style raku usually involves removing pottery from the kiln while at bright red heat and placing it into containers with combustible materials. Once the materials ignite, the containers are closed. This produces an intense reduction atmosphere which affects the colours in glazes and clay bodies.
