Paula Richa - Textile Artist

Paula Richa is a sustainable textile artist born in the central coast of Chile and moved to New Zealand 20 years ago making Waiheke Island her home for the last 11 years.

She studied Textile Design at Valparaiso University in Chile and worked for a number of years in the fashion industry in NZ and since moving to Waiheke she discovered her art, a particular abstract fusion between textiles and art.

Paula’s distinctive work is an on-going process of experimental layering of colours, textures and transparency. She takes great satisfaction on creating her unique pieces due the nature of her materials like fabrics, canvases, furniture, photo frames , etc, they are all pre-loved and all have a previous life which she has repurposed to create a new and one-off piece. She has also been an active member of Waiheke Upcycle in Oneroa for many years.
