Carol Bucknell
Carol Bucknell has been creating figurative paintings in oils for nearly 20 years, taking courses with various artists including Matthew Browne, Zarhan Southon and US based figurative artist Melinda Cootsona. While living in Auckland and working as a freelance garden journalist she painted part-time, exhibiting in group shows and completing portrait commissions. After moving to Waiheke in 2015 Carol now does less writing and more painting, spending most days in her Oneroa studio. Recently she has been exploring the use of cold wax medium and oils on panel in a series of figure paintings in semi-abstract beach settings. She has also been exploring the digital art process.
“For me the figure is a source of endless fascination which I strive to convey through form, colour, mood, light and movement.”
